HPR Frequently Asked Questions

What is High Power Rifle?

High Power Rifle is the most popular form of organized rifle-only competitive shooting in the United States.  At CFRPC, it includes both Across-the-Course events, which are fired from multiple distances and positions; and Mid-Range events, which are fired all prone from 300 yards or meters.  Rifles used range from Service and Match rifles to Vintage and Sporting rifles.  There is something for shooters at every level.  All events are sanctioned by either NRA or CMP.

How do I get started in High Power Rifle?

Read How to Get Started at the NRA Competitive Shooting Programs website to familiarize yourself with the match format and determine if you have the proper rifle/equipment.  Come and observe a match, or better yet, come prepared to participate!  The club has limited rifles and equipment available for new competitors to use during a match.  If you would like to make use of our equipment, please contact the discipline director ahead of time so that a rifle can be reserved for you.  Check out the Match Info page for more information about our matches.
