There are several kinds of orientations at the Club, depending on what facilities you would like to use.  As the requirements for the various orientations differ, please see the descriptions below before planning on attending any orientation.  Also, please click on the link to the Orientations Calendar (on the menu on left of the screen) to see all of the orientations currently scheduled.

General Orientation

This is the orientation that is attended by all new members.  Additionally, all Club Members must attend a General Orientation every 7 years.  The date of a Club Member's last orientation appears on their membership card. Current Club Members should carefully review the 7-Year General Orientation Instructions for a comprehensive list of steps needed to complete the orientation.

The General Orientation takes about 4 hours.  You need to bring: eye protection; hearing protection; a suitable handgun for 25m range pistol qualification AND/OR a suitable rifle for 25m range rifle qualification; and 10 rounds of ammunition to be fired for each desired qualification.

Leath Action Range (LAR) Orientation

This is the orientation that you need to attend if you want to be able to practice on the Leath Action Range.  To be eligible to attend this orientation for the first time, you must compete in 6 club matches on the LAR after you have become a member of the Club.  Once you have attended this orientation once, you must attend another LAR Orientation every 3 years.  The date of your LAR Orientation appears on your membership card.

Once you have competed in the 6 required matches, find the next LAR Orientation on the Calendar.  You must register for the orientation in advance.  Please follow the instructions in the event detail on the Calendar.

On the day of the LAR Orientation, you need to bring appropriate proof of qualification (current membership card, written proof of 6 matches shot on LAR after becoming a member, plus written approval from a discipline director).  Bring Club Rules (available for download on the Club Website), a handgun and holster, at least 20 rounds of ammunition, and eye & ear protection.

Shotgun Range Orientation

This is the orientation that you need to attend if you want to practice on the shotgun range when no match is taking place.   Once you have attended this orientation once, you must attend another Shotgun Range Orientation every 3 years.  The date of your Shotgun Range Orientation appears on your membership card.

Pre-registration is not required for the shotgun orientation.  Bring a suitable shotgun (NO Pistol Grip Only shotguns); 1 box (25 Shells) of ammunition (a minimum of 8 shells are required) in #7, 8 or 9 Steel shot OR #7.5, 8 or 9 Lead shot; eye protection and hearing protection.  Clay targets for the Shotgun Orientation are provided by the Club.
